Peronal Review
"Initially, after being assigned to watch Sandglass, I was kind of skeptical to its quality and entertainment values, due to its release in 1995. I mean, this drama is as old as myself! After I finally settled down to watch it, I was shocked. There were so many production aspects of Sandglass that even exceed the standards of today's dramas, and despite having melodramatic elements in it, Sandglass didn't give us the goofy characters that are present in most modern melodramas. Also, after learning about the historical relevance and social impact that Sandglass contained, it becomes clear why Sandglass was immensely popular in its time. Not only do some of its quality aspects rival those of modern dramas, but it was introduced to Korea at such a opportune time as to remind people of their past for them to take action. All in all, Sandglass was an excellent series and any Korean drama fan should take no hesitation to set aside some time to watch this valuable film."

"[Sandglass was] one of the more surprising and enjoyable dramas that I have watched. I have never been one for dramatic or melodramatic dramas but Sandglass really was a surprise for me. It really was quite entertaining even though it was older and not my style of drama."

"Sandglass can be considered as Korea's jewel of its time. Sandglass made it possible, as a first generation of historical T.V. shows, to portray and reenact the tragic history of Gwangju Massacre. The reenactment created massive reflection of the public to one of Korea's revolutionary historic events. Storywise, between the life of the main characters, Sandglass also is able to show other problems that has been occurring in the 70's and 80's, including government corruption, Marshal law, college revolutions, and many more. The show is a must-see, for it reflects many elements of a good drama and can be considered as origin of what Korean novel is now."
